Our Practice

A 30-year practice in Southern architecture and New Urbanism.

Mike Thompson, AIA

At Thompson Placemaking, we believe a house should be more than walls and a roof — it should feel like home and strengthen the community around it.

Led by Mike Thompson, AIA, the firm draws on three decades of practice and lifelong study of the streets and architecture of New Orleans. Today we serve as Town Architect for four major communities and consult on master plans and renderings across the Southeast and Mountain West.

The work is rooted in tradition, designed for resilience, and rendered — often quite literally — by hand.
